Threaded or press-fit: buy the right bottom bracket, not a slogan
“Threaded” sounds like the end of the bottom-bracket conversation. It is only the start. You still need the correct shell dimensions, crank spindle and installation specification. A named standard is not a promise that every cup bearing the same letters fits.
The frame supplies the shell, the bottom-bracket assembly supplies bearings and mounting, and the crank supplies its spindle. Park Tool’s standards guide distinguishes threaded and press-fit systems. Cup design and required tools vary within those families. First identify the frame and crank; then choose the compatible assembly.
One trap is a “thread-together” assembly sold for a press-fit frame. Park Tool’s tool guide explains that these assemblies can have visible tool fittings just like a threaded bottom bracket. Threads joining the cups do not turn the frame’s smooth bore into a threaded shell. Before comparing installation quotes, ask whether “threaded” describes the frame or only the assembly, and give the workshop the exact part code.
T47 still needs a full specification
Our source record from 29 August lists T47A for the Speedster SR; the LCR018-D has its own T47 specification. Treat these as separate frame interfaces, not interchangeable purchases from the “T47” label alone. Ask for shell width, symmetry, bearing arrangement and the exact part compatible with your crank.

Ask who will install and replace it
Price the compatible part, installation and future removal with the workshop. Proper preparation and the prescribed tools matter for both systems. A threaded shell does not eliminate all creaks; a press-fit shell is not proof of a future problem. Noise can originate elsewhere in the bike.
If the specification is unclear, resolve it before paying for a crank-and-bottom-bracket bundle. Buying an attractive complete deal is little help if the cups cannot be installed in the frame. Keep the final part code in the groupset inventory.
