Make a bike-fit appointment useful before buying a frame

“I want a bike that fits” is a reasonable wish and an incomplete brief. A long-distance commuter and a rider preparing for short races may need different decisions from the same appointment. Tell the fitter what the bike must do, what currently works, and what you are about to buy.

Bring a riding brief, not only body measurements

Describe normal ride length, terrain, luggage and the hand positions you actually use. Record when a problem occurs and what changed before it appeared. Ask the practice in advance which bike, shoes, pedals, clothing and previous fit records to bring; the useful equipment depends on the appointment. Keep personal health information between you and the appropriate professional.

BikeFit’s explanation of the process emphasizes individual goals and the relationships between contact points. A height-based size suggestion is not the same service as evaluating your intended riding setup.

Make the appointment answer the purchase

If considering an INCOLOR Speedster SR, bring the correct size chart, cockpit drawing and available stem/bar combinations. Include manufacturer adjustment limits, not just the option you like. The fitter needs to know whether a proposed position can be built with the actual parts.

For example, a report may specify a target hood position while the proposed cockpit drawing or approved spacer range is still missing. Keep the purchase open until the fitter and assembler can map that target to documented, approved parts. A position target does not authorize an installation.

Leave with a usable record

Ask for the final measuring method, contact-point coordinates, chosen parts and any unresolved limits. Agree how follow-up works and what observations to bring back. A photo of the finished position is helpful context, but it cannot replace dimensions whose reference points are defined.

Then send the relevant purchase requirements to the seller, without your private consultation details. The goal is a buildable position and a clearer order—not an impressive PDF that leaves you guessing which cockpit to buy.

Use the front-end height guide to separate the hand-position target from frame stack. Bring a repeatable saddle-position record if the current setup is useful.
