Compare bike quotes in one currency without hiding conversion fees
A dollar quote is not automatically cheaper because the euro number looks smaller after conversion. The conversion needs a date, a direction and the fees you will actually pay. Keep the original quote beside the converted comparison.

Write the rate with units
In an illustrative calculation, US$1,000 × €0.92 per US$1 = €920. An assumed 2% conversion fee adds €18.40, giving €938.40 before any separate costs. These are invented rates, not today’s exchange rate or a card quote. If the rate is stated as dollars per euro, the operation changes: divide dollars by that rate.
Ask which conversion you are accepting
For a GRARO quote, identify invoice currency and final payment currency. A merchant conversion and your card issuer’s conversion are different offers. Visa’s DCC explanation describes the need to show rates and markups when that conversion is offered. Compare the actual stated costs; do not assume your card has no foreign-transaction fee.
Suppose the merchant instead offers a final converted amount of €940 for the same invoice, including its conversion charge. The illustrative card calculation above is €938.40, only €1.60 lower. An additional card fee could remove that difference. Compare documented totals covering the same charges, and do not add a markup twice when it is already included in the quoted amount.

Preserve the quote; update the calculation
Record dated quote, rate source/time, fees, shipping and tax basis. Mark a planning conversion as an estimate and keep quote validity visible. A refund can have a different converted value and fee treatment; check payment terms before assuming it restores the same home-currency amount.
Compare all offers on the same cost basis. If shipping or import charges remain unknown, the converted amount is a partial subtotal. Precision to two decimals does not make an incomplete purchase price complete.
Use the EU landed-cost worksheet for the remaining delivery and import lines. Currency conversion checks the payment amount; it does not establish the whole landed cost.
