38 mm tires on aero road bikes: 1× and 2× limits

The tire label is only the starting point

A nominal tire size and a measured width describe different things. LightCarbon’s retained limit is explicitly a measured-width maximum. Ask about the exact tire and wheel you intend to use; leave the “but somebody fitted one” argument out of the shopping basket.

Clearance is not a substitute for fit

The next comparison is geometry and cockpit adjustment. Check stack, reach, available spacers, stem options and seatpost arrangement for your intended size. A frame can solve your tire requirement while still failing your fit requirement.

Also compare the actual package: cockpit, seatpost, headset and small hardware may be included or separate.
